Ruth E. Harris
has lived in rural Oklahoma and Texas most of her life. She grew up appreciating the great outdoors and scenic places and it is often the subject of her oil paintings.

Devoting time to her family, she delayed her art career until 1988. She has since taken many college art courses and has continued to study painting under such noted impressionists as Matt Smith, John Encinias, W.C. Mundy, and others.

She has also taught classes at the local junior college and given private lessons at her home studio.

Ruth E. Harris
paints primarily in oils in an impressionistic alla prima style, with more realism on focal point. Many of her landscapes are painted en plein aire, but she also enjoys painting still life and florals.

Ruth is a member of the Plein Aire Painters of Oklahoma and is a supporter of local art organizations.
